Porto to Santiago / Camino Portuguese

Leaving Porto Portugal tomorrow for Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on the Camino Central.

It will be a little tricky because there are several different Caminos and we are combining two in order to miss an industrial-heavy area with a walking trail very close to the highway. People have recommended to stay away from the beginning of the Portuguese Camino Central.

We are combining the beginning of the Camino Literal (green and blue dots on the map, which mostly follows the coast) with the Camino Central (orange dots on the map, which runs central and inland).

We will start in Porto, go to Matosinhos (bottom of map), up to Vila do Condo, and cut in there to join the Camino Central at Rates (green dots to orange dots).

A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino Portuguese is downloaded on my phone and is a main resource

This, along with apps like Wise Pilgrim, Camino Ninja, and Gronze maps, along with your legs, gets you there.

The Camino Central is about 240 kilometers long and for us, a return trip to Santiago de Compostela, where dozens of Caminos come together and meet.

I'm reluctant to say "end," because, well, Nadine, a twelve year veteran Camino walker says it well,
